TLC is going to air a spinoff featuring 40 of your favorite cast members. If anyone is used to being apart and communicating via video chat, it’s the couples of 90 Day Fiancé. They’re the perfect candidates for a time of self-isolating and social distancing. TLC’s new series is called 90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantined, a spinoff originated from the coronavirus pandemic.

This is interesting news since most reality shows are on halt or shut down due to the global pandemic. TLC made the surprise announcement on Thursday, April 2. Over 40 cast members are expected to return to the spinoff. General manager and president of TLC, Howard Lee, made the announcement. He said that cast members are available to speak via computers and video chat since it “is already in their DNA.”

Filming television shows right now is impossible. Most of the entertainment industry has been on halt. But reality TV shows will have to be more creative with their production limitations. The industry could help reshape the future of TV as we know it. Some networks are already finding clever ways to ride out the coronavirus pandemic, as Variety reported. They already have well-stocked productions that will keep viewers entertained for months on end.

90 Day Fiancé is one of the cable network’s most popular franchises. However, it’s usually filmed with a camera crew filming the entire cast, mostly in another country. 90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantined will allow couples to record themselves. Filming is expected to start as soon as this week. They will also be filmed for by production company Sharp Entertainment, under the Industrial Media umbrella, via video chat.

“Our crew is not near them physically at all,” Lee informed the outlet. “They will be helping them remotely. And they have no problem with this, the couples. They’re seizing this opportunity. I think that they’re actually really enjoying it, being able to show a part of their lives at home.”

The cast will include fan-favorites such as Darcey, as well as couples from the latest season including Emily and Sasha and Pedro and Chantel, who have been a big part of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise.

90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantined isn’t the only 90 Day Fiancé series that will focus on love in the time of corona.

Jihoon and Deavan, who were featured on the new spinoff series 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, have also been self-taping at home for a future spinoff series while quarantined in South Korea. The first five episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantined will air in May.

If the show does well, then there could be more. It’s likely to do well since the 90 Day Fiancé franchise is TLC’s most popular one.
