It seems like Billy and Ami have had enough of Matt’s rebellious ways. The “Alaskan Bush People” couple reportedly threatened to fire their eldest son from their hit reality show amid reports of Matt’s downward spiral.
As previously reported, Matt Brown left the family home shortly before the holidays and refused to work with a sober coach for his alcohol addiction. He has since been spotted in California, looking dazed and “bleary-eyed” as Radar Online reported. According to family insiders, Billy and Ami have finally gotten in touch with their son and gave him an ultimatum: sober up or get fired!
“Billy and Ami have finally gotten in contact with Matt since he left. They told him if he did not return home right away that they would not allow him to be a part of the upcoming season of Alaskan Bush,” the source revealed.
The communication happened before the New Year, but it seems Matt has ignored his parents’ plea and did not celebrate the occasion with his family in Washington. “Alaskan Bush People” Season 9 is slated to air this year and Billy Brown reportedly want Matt to be sober in time for the new season.
“They would like to pick up next season with Matt being sober and healthy. That is what Billy had planned,” the source continued.
While Discovery Channel has not announced when the long-running reality-documentary will air, the network previously released a PSA on the issue of mental health and substance abuse. In the short video posted in September last year, Matt’s siblings Bam Bam and Rain Brown thanked fans for their continued support and assured them that Matt was getting the help that he needed. They also encouraged those who were struggling with the same issues to seek support.

Matt has first opened up about his alcohol addiction back in 2016 when he first sought treatment after a DUI arrest. His recent relapsed was said to have been brought about by Ami’s cancer battle, which has been terribly difficult for the Brown family.
