Fuller House Season 5: Candace Cameron Bure Reveals How She Got Kirk Cameron to Guest Star

Fuller House

Kirk Cameron is making his big return to television. The actor is best known for his role as Mike Seaver on the sitcom Growing Pains, which aired during the 80s. It was the very role in which Cameron was nominated for two Golden Globes. Since then, Cameron has been focused on his faith and has starred in a series of Christian movies. Now he’s making a return to mainstream TV with a guest starring role on Season 5 of Fuller House.

The first half of Fuller House’s final season has dropped on Netflix. This season is said to include tearjerkers, guest stars, and surprise twists. But nothing is quite as shocking as Candace Cameron Bure’s real-life brother Kirk Cameron, who plays himself in Episode 8. In a new interview with TVLine, Bure admitted that having Cameron on the show was “interesting.” She also revealed how she got Cameron to guest-star on the series. Bure, who also works as producer on the series, said they had a lot of ideas for Kimmy GIbbler’s celebrity crush. Bure put Cameron’s name out there and everyone was interested. But Bure had to work hard to make it happen. When she called her brother, he said, “I’d totally be game, but I’m working.” But with some tweaks to their filming schedules, they were able to make it happen. Bure said that she was “happier that he did the show.” She felt that it came “full-circle with him doing an episode of the new series.”

Bure also said that it was a “dream for me to direct my brother.” She’s also aware that her brother played a different character on the Full House series. He guest-starred in an episode in Season 1 as DJ’s older cousin, Steve. Which is a completely different Steve from the one that DJ later dates in high school, as if that isn’t confusing enough. “Honestly, we didn’t care,” Bure admitted. “I know he played Cousin Steve, but we’ve broken the fourth wall on our show so many times, and I think the fans will appreciate it more than they’ll [complain] about it.” What are your thoughts on Kirk Cameron’s appearance on Fuller House?
