Michael Kelly To Play A Money-hungry Oil Tycoon In ‘Landman’

‘Landman’ premiered in November 2024, and across its two seasons, it has maintained an overall positive critics score.

When the show’s second season ended its run on January 18 of this year, there was an overwhelming call by fans for another season to follow as soon as possible. It’s no wonder, since the second season didn’t exactly end with a closed story.

Well, well, it sure was a welcome surprise to fans to find that season 3 of ‘Landman’ has been greenlit at the time. But I’m sure the addition of Michael Kelly might be a close second.

Especially since he’s set to play such an interesting character in the name of William Crockett. Per the official character description, Crockett is “a titan of industry, and everything about him exudes efficiency and money.”

Crockett’s addition is sure to shake things up for Billy Thornton’s Tommy, who, as a rule, doesn’t mix well with executives.

But with Tommy stepping into his own and starting his very own oil company, things are finally looking up for him.

“You can see how glum Tommy is, having to get on a private jet all the time,” series co-creator/EP Christian Wallace shared with TVLine at the end of Season 2.

“A lot of us might be thrilled by that prospect of this more glamorous lifestyle, but Tommy really thrives whenever he’s in the patch, in the field with the hands and really working more of the day-to-day operations.”

The new company, CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle, therefore, “gives him an opportunity to lean into some of the stuff that he enjoys most out of this very difficult job.”

Kelly will be joining returning ‘Landman’ stars Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Andy Garcia, Sam Elliott, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Kayla Wallace, Paulina Chávez, James Jordan, Mark Collie, and Colm Feore.

At present, a premiere date is yet to be announced.
