Tobias Menzies Talks Outlander’s Final Season

Outlander fans are counting down the days until the final season hits Starz, and already speculating what characters will return for the big finale. 

Will Tobias Menzies return as Jonathan Black Jack Randall, or Claire’s husband Frank?  Keep reading for all the details, here’s what we know so far about the final Outlander season.

Outlander premiered on Starz in 2014, and fans automatically fell in love with Catriona Balfe’s character Clare Randall.  Just like in the series of books that Outlander is based, Clare was a WW11 nurse in Scotland in the 1940’s.

But, she wasn’t just any ole nurse, she managed to travel back in time to 1743 and fall in love with James Fraser and get caught up in the historical Jacobite rising.

Tobias Menzies played both a character in Clare’s 1940’s life (her husband Frank), and the evil Black Jack she encountered in the 1700’s.  Menzies’ Black Jack was a character we all loved to hate.

Despite the fact that Black Jack and Frank were both killed off in previous seasons, rumors have been circulating that Outlander would bring the actor back for the final season.

Tobias Menzies Dishes On Possible Black Jack Return

A Black Jack return would definitely spice things up in Outlander Season 8, but sadly it looks like it won’t be happening.  Tobias Menzies broke the news to TV Line.  “What am I allowed to say?  It would be great. [But] no, you will not see me.”

Any day now Starz is set to announce the premiere of Outlander Season 7b, it’s believed that the new episodes will air some time in late 2024. 

It could be almost two years before the final Outlander season goes through production and hits out TV screens.  In the mean time, Outlander fans can also look forward to the spinoff Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
