Saved by the Bell revival is already in the works. It also found its own Mr. Belding. According to a report via TVLine, NBC’s new streaming service Peacock has signed on John Michael Higgins to play Bayside’s new high school principal. Higgins has a long list of credits, including Happily Divorced and the Pitch Perfect trilogy. He will succeed Dennis Haskins, who previously played Principal Richard Belding in the original Saved by the Bell series and several of its spinoffs.
Higgins will play the role as Principal Toddman, who is constantly pranked by his privileged students. Not only that, but he also has to put up with their entitled parents. This quickly changes as the high school gets an influx of low-income students and Toddman finally gets his chance to make a difference. TVLine previously reported that original cast members Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez are returning for the revival. Mark-Paul Gosselaar will also reprise his role as Zack Morris on the new series.
His character is the new governor of California. However, the actor has publicly announced that he’s not returning to the series despite the reports. Saved by the Bell aired on NBC from 1989 to 1993. The original series centered around a group of friends as they dealt with the pressures of being a teenager at Bayside High School.
