One of its haunting scenes shows Elizabeth Debicki as Diana sitting in a limo moments before her death driving through a tunnel in Paris. It’s been roughly 48 hours since the movie dropped and it’s already generated as much controversies as it can get.

Many people are chiming in on “The Crown” drama and are either slamming the royals or slamming the show and its actors for causing pain to real people.

In response to the backlash that the series is currently facing, the stars have stepped up to defend it.

The creator Peter Morgan insisted that, despite people’s claims that the show portrayed the royals unkindly, it actually humanized them. He also added that the show focused on “what they were feeling”.

Jonathan Pryce, who plays Prince Philip said: “It’s all part of our story.”

He added: “We enter into it as characters in a story. It’s just like normal filmmaking. You don’t think about those real events – at least, I don’t.”

Another star who claimed to dissociate her senses from the real stories of the people they’re representing onscreen is Lesley Manville, who plays Princess Margaret.

She also added: “It’ s more about what these people are thinking. The thing is, about our scripts, it can absolutely hone in what any of these characters are feeling.

“When the public watches a real public event, you don’t know. You have to imagine how they’re feeling.

She concluded: “It’s great to be able to tell the private and personal stories about these people and view them in that way.”
