Fans who watched the October 19 The Resident episode know that the show took off three years after where the show ended in season 4. Because of the time jump, viewers were unable to see Conrad cope with the death of his wife. It seems he’s ready to move on since the show’s boss revealed that the character will soon have a new love life.

Co-showrunner Peter Elkoff said that it’s been “very tricky” as they determined whether Conrad should have a new love interest after the time jump. He then hinted that he’ll soon be romantically involved well before season 5 ends.

Elkoff explained that Conrad and Nicolette “Nic” Nevin (Emily VanCamp) were fan favorites on The Resident and she’s Condrad’s one true love. But, he’ll be able to move on romantically after his wife’s passing. “He will end up with somebody, but not until we get closer to the end of the season,” he teased.

The Resident’s Spoilers – Creative Team Decides On A Time Jump

He shared that the show’s creative team didn’t want the whole season to focus on Conrad’s grief. That’s the reason why they decided to do a time jump. So in the new season, Conrad will still have Nic in his heart and mind but he’s ready to be happy and focus on raising his daughter.

There are already speculations about Conrad’s new love interest but no confirmation has been given yet. Some say it would be Billie Sutton (Jessica Lucas) while others believe it would be Cade (Kaley Ronayne). But Elkoff said that who Conrad will end up with will be a guessing game for now.

“We will try to tell stories in a way, going forward, where the audience will go, ‘It’s going to be her. Wait, no! I think it’s going to be her. No, wait a minute. I bet you it’s going to be her,’” he teased.

Elkoff added that upcoming episodes will see Conrad connect, collaborate, and share emotional moments with different people. Fans may start to think that it’s the start of a romantic relationship. Some viewers may think that they’re right with their speculations but their assumptions may also be wrong.
