Emily VanCamp To Make Surprising Return In The Resident’s Season Five Finale

After shocking fans with her exit from the beginning of season 5, actress Emily VanCamp will make a return to Fox’s The Resident. VanCamp, who played Nurse Practioner Nic Nevin, was last seen in the beginning of season 5. Nic died after being involved in a car accident. She left behind her husband Conrad Hawkins (played by Matt Czuchry) and her daughter Gigi (played by Remington Evans).

Emily VanCamp – Left The Series To Focus On Her Growing Family

VanCamp will make her big return in the season 5 finale, set to appear in a sequence of flashbacks. Since VanCamp left the show, time has jumped ahead roughly three years to show Conrad now with his toddler aged daughter. Conrad could be seen in much of this season still struggling with moving on from Nic. As fans know he has been attempting to date.

“We have sort of set up both Billie Sutton (played by Jessica Lucas) and Cade Sullivan (played by Kaley Ronayne) as potential love interests for Conrad, in fairly subtle and sometimes less so ways, but he hasn’t figured out who, and there are complications on both sides,” executive producer Peter Elkoff shared with TV Insider. “At the beginning of the last episode, he realizes, for a lot of reasons, that he has to figure out how to move forward with his life.”

Emily Vancamp – The Flashback Sequences Will Feature Never Before Scenes Between Nic & Conrad

Emily VanCamp will appear in flashback scenes with Conrad as he remembers days and months after they welcomed Gigi into the world. The pair will also be seen on a magical date among several other moments that has Conrad reflecting on how to move forward and the path he will take.

While VanCamp previously shared that she wasn’t opposed to making a guest appearance in the future, fans didn’t expect for the Canadian performer to come back so soon.

“There’s just so much love between all of us. And I would be absolutely open to going back in some form or another, but it really depends on what works best for the show and for them,” VanCamp shared. “I would always love to go back and see everyone. I miss them terribly.”

Emily VanCamp’s guest appearance will take place in the May 17th episode of The Resident.
