She opened up about it on the Wednesday, January 31 episode of The View: Behind the Table podcast. The talk show’s executive producer Brian Teta asked Joy about a moment that forever changed her life.

According to The Mayo Clinic, an ectopic pregnancy happens when a fertilized egg implants and grows outside the uterus. If left untreated, it can cause internalized bleeding, which can be fatal. Joy had to undergo surgery to have her fallopian tube removed so she could survive.
“They wheeled me into the OR (Operating Room), the doctors not there yet. I said, ‘Give me something!’ I was in such pain,” Joy exclaimed. “So that’s the end of that. They save me, I live. I’m minus a fallopian tube. It’s okay, I can live without it.”
