Vanna White Bids Farewell To Wheel Of Fortune Star Pat Sajak After 40 Years Together

Pat Sajak – Departs Wheel Of Fortune!

For many TV viewers, seeing Pat Sajak on Wheel Of Fortune provided a soothing certainty to their daily routine. But at 76, Sajak just announced his retirement from the game show. And his co-star, 66-year-old Vanna White, reflected on their decades together via  People.

Turning to Twitter, Vanna reflected on their decades together. And she asked, “When we started @WheelofFortune who could have imagined we’d still be at it 41 seasons later? I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come,” gushed White. And she added, “Cheers to you, @patsajak!”

In his departure announcement, Sajak promised to reveal more about why he decided to leave the show. But he kept his social media statement brief. And the Wheel Of Fortune host wrote, “Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” he wrote on Twitter. And Pat called his experience “a wonderful ride. And I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)”

Vanna White Remembers Her First Wheel Of Fortune Episode

Sajak’s daughter Maggie recently honored her father’s 40-year hosting anniversary on social media. “Happy 40th Wheel-iversary to this guy!” she wrote on social media. “On this day in 1981, @patsajak hosted his very first episode of @WheelofFortune. And the rest is history!” And Vanna recalled her own first episode on Wheel Of Fortune.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this,” admitted White. “But 40 years ago today I taped my first episode of @wheeloffortune. It’s been a wonderful 40 years, too! I’m so grateful to those of you who watch and everyone behind the scenes who make us look good. We wouldn’t still be here without all of you!”

However, Vanna shared that she viewed herself as a “team” with Sajak on Wheel Of Fortune. But she admitted she didn’t want to think about working on the TV game show without Pat. And she confessed, “I can’t imagine. Everybody relates Wheel of Fortune to Pat and Vanna. We’re like Ken and Barbie, you know? We’ve been in everybody’s homes for 40 years, so it would be weird having somebody else turn my letters.”
