The Baker and the Beauty begins tonight with the paparazzi chasing after Daniel Garcia (Victor Rasuk) who is just making deliveries; but back at the bakery, there are several gifts for endorsement left for Daniel. His sister, Natalie Garcia (Belissa Escobedo), and brother, Mateo Garcia (David Del Rio) are encouraging him to accept all the items as everyone wants him to have them as he is Noa Hamilton’s (Nathalie Kelley) boyfriend. Daniel goes to see his parents, Mari (Lisa Vidal) and Rafael Garcia (Carlos Gomez) who are enjoying some of the items he has received. His father warns him there may not be a bill but there is always a price. A gorgeous exotic car arrives for him and his father storms off, Mateo convincing him to accept the corvette keys. Daniel is enjoying life in the public eye as he goes riding with Noa in his new car.

Mateo knocks at Vanessa Sanchez (Michelle Veintimilla), apologizing. She grabs the gift bag from him, allowing him to explain. He admits lying because he wanted to meet Noa Hamilton, thinking she would help him become famous. He listened to what Vanessa had said to him and it hit him that she was right and has done so much for him and he feels they could be a good team. She agrees as he confesses he needs her; correcting her that he needs her as a manager. She tells him one more lie and she will never speak to him again; urging him to make some new material.

Mari believes it is time for them to expand and create their cafe; even though Rafael is uncertain. She wants him to go back to cooking like he used to do. He feels this was a dream of a younger man; giving Mari pause. They speak about Natalie, Mari worried she will say the wrong thing as this “cold war” has been going on for a week. He reminds her that she will know what to say as her mother.

Noa and Daniel attempt to enjoy some private time but Lewis (Dan Bucatinsky) interrupts them, disgusted by their actions. He says he has a mess to clean up after taking a joy ride in a free car. Noa takes a break while Lewis reminds Daniel that he and Noa are a couple now and there are things he needs to know about not accepting any of these things and always has to think about what is good for Noa only.

Daniel hands him the keys back as Lewis tells her their stuff is there for the gala. Noa is given a contract, she declines then learns they have a meeting this afternoon. She informs Daniel that the production company from the Food Channel wants to meet with him. He smiles, a bit worried about him being on TV; Lewis tells him to take the meeting as Noa is not going to date a baker her whole life. He tosses him back the car keys.

Vanessa is showing a house to potential clients when a stranger walks in, telling her those people she is showing the house to are reporters for gossip magazines; all because she is Daniel Garcia’s ex-girlfriend. She tells him to leave when he says he is a reporter too but not to catch her as she is part of the story too. He hands her his card, encouraging her to call him, Kurt Malick, when she wants to tell her side of the story. He advises her to be more aware of whom she speaks too from now on.

Rafael is stuck informing everyone that Daniel is not in today, they begin to leave the bakery. He learns that everyone there is waiting to be served something from Daniel. He laments to his family back at home, that his son is going to be the death of him as half the customers are there for Daniel. Natalie teases him that she didn’t realize she had another brother. Mari asks Natalie to come shopping with her as her father tells them to spend his money and have a great girl’s day.

Natalie is very stressed about it. Mateo is told he has to cancel his recording time as his mom and Natalie left and Daniel isn’t there. He says he has to stay there as Natalie and Mari need to reconnect. Mateo is furious that he has to pick up the slack for everyone else. Rafael says he needs to fix a leak so they don’t get shut down and everyone in the family needs to sacrifice for each other and today it is his turn. PERIOD!

Lewis gets a text from Kurt, informing him that the paparazzi are trying to get dirt from Vanessa and she isn’t talking yet; but Lewis owes him. Noa comes out, worried because he is doing something healthy. He informs her he is dating a nutritionist and they need to talk. They discuss how upset the board is with her for refusing the proposal. She tells him to send it to them so they can agree with her.

She is off to meet with Daniel, wanting to be there for his meeting with the producers. She gets a call from Melanie Caan (Beth Malone) and places her on speakerphone. She wants them to discuss another project without her ex, Colin. She suggests an hour, but she is more concerned about Daniel; Lewis says Daniel would agree with the meeting as this is her dream.

Daniel and Noa speak, she encourages him to stay and do the interview as he has a gift. She leaves her very anxious when he reveals they are not waiting on Noa anymore. He goes into his meeting. Meanwhile, Vanessa is showing a house to who turns out to be Lewis, who is stringing her along. She confronts him about being a reporter, but he reveals to be Noa’s manager.

He says he is truly wanting to buy the house, that day with cash. He only wants her to sign an NDA, and he feels she should be revealed to her loyalty. He throws everything that has happened to her and it sucks but she can take this money and move up in her life; running her own empire. She tells Lewis she is not for sale and walks away.

Mari is looking for dresses for Natalie for her big 15th birthday party. She doesn’t like any of the dresses her mother picks, but finally picks one they both agree on. Mari doesn’t care that it isn’t traditional as long as it made her happy, she simply wants this day to be the best for her and all of them. She encourages her to try it on.

Daniel is told to pitch the producers his idea, something he had no idea he was supposed to do. In the meantime, Noa arrives to meet with Melanie but only sees birthday party signs up. Daniel stalls as Noa walks into what is a huge children’s party. Melanie reveals it is her daughter’s 7th birthday. Daniel begins to explain that food is a universal language for people, and they are eating it up. Melanie leaves Noa at the party, saying she will return soon.

Daniel is realizing this is more to go on with this meeting, and it has to do with Noa, and if she appears as a guest from time to time they have a hit show. Daniel doesn’t like that they want him to get an accent and buy a motorcycle; and tattoos. Melanie is looking for someone to play the role of a young mother, to see how she acts around kids. It is a passion project and she thinks Noa would be perfect for the lead. They are filming the entire thing on location in Morocco and it could show a whole new side of Noa, asking if she is up to living 3 months in the middle of nowhere?

Daniel loves the idea of doing a show but they had zero interest in him. He is reminded that the network is a business and they want someone they can sell to the world. He is told to be himself and not let them change who he is. He has a proposition for Betsy, so Daniel records her cooking her homemade foods in her food truck.

Natalie is sure of the dress she chose and her mother reminds her how beautiful she looks. The cashier is very rude, saying she loves that they are keeping up with tradition as another girl came in last week, saying she wanted a suit for her birthday because her date was another girl. Mari stops Natalie from speaking but confronts her; saying if she is Cuban she should go back to Cuba as this is America and a free country where people are allowed to be who they are and if this is how she speaks about her customers they are going to take their money elsewhere and mocks her laughter. Natalie is completely at awe of her mother.

Mateo is busy working in the bakery when Rafael comes in, he is furious about the tip jar but even more upset that Mateo lost $300 for canceling the recording session. He takes Mateo to the back, who confronts his father that he lost the money because he was forced to stay there; but Rafael is angrier that he thinks he should waste that money to “play around in a recording studio”. Mateo wonders if his father ever believed in him, as he is not throwing money away, he is investing in himself. He says all his money goes into making music as he is starting to make real industry contacts. He needed this session to make a real demo, he gets upset saying he is doing exactly what his dad did, building something of his own, whether he believes in him or not. Mateo bolts out of the room, leaving Rafael upset.

Natalie tells her mom that the way she defended her was awesome and it meant a lot to her. Mari walks through the kitchen, asking if this is always how it is going to be; if that is what she really wants. She reveals “wanting” has nothing to do with it. She just wants her mother to accept this but Mari says she cannot protect her for the rest of her life and what is she can’t do that. She worries that Natalie doesn’t really know this world at all; Natalie takes off to her room as Mari turns her back to make a drink.

Rafael calls out for Mateo, who locked upfront but still has to work. Rafael fixed the leak in the storage closet and says maybe they don’t need a storage closet, he turned the back room into a soundproof room, with egg cartons. He can’t afford a fancy recording studio, they test it and it is soundproof. Rafael apologizes that a lot has fallen on Mateo’s shoulders and he may not have been as supportive in the past, but he wants to be. He explains how they sacrificed coming to this country so they could achieve their dreams, but more importantly for their kids to achieve theirs.

Natalie calls Daniel, leaving a message asking him to call her back. Mateo comes into her room to see her. She says things went “fine” with their mom, she explains how she thought for a minute they were past it then she started to tell Natalie how terrible her life will be and the worst thing is she knows her mother truly believes that. Mateo assures that they will get there, revealing that their dad built him a recording studio. He explains the big blow out they had and that is how their dad finally heard him. The point is that Rafael finally got there, so will Mari. They hug each other as she feels very discerned.

Noa tells Daniel the food channel was a bunch of idiots. He is made to promise not to change on her as she likes him just the way he is. Lewis comes in, making fun of them kissing. He is counting the days for their honeymoon phase to be over. She is handed another proposal, something she tells him to send to the board with her “no.” Noa goes to another room with Lewis to pick out earrings.

Daniel gets a message from Vanessa that she can’t believe he sent Noa’s manager to buy her off; something he didn’t know anything about. Daniel confronts him, as Noa is shocked too. He knows how insulting this is. She is already upset that he broke her heart and she is furious that she believes he tried ot buy her off. Lewis screams at him, “Welcome to reality bakerboy!” He reminds him that anyone he has a problem with is now Lewis’ problem.

Daniel confronts Noa, asking if she is okay with it. She doesn’t like being put on the spot, nor does she like his look of judgment. She says he broke up with her but the paparazzi will be coming after her. Daniel excuses himself, saying he will see her in the car. Lewis seems satisfied as Noa looks disappointed.

Mari tells Rafael they didn’t find a dress. They did talk and this is not easy. Mari feels they will get through it as they always do. Rafael says the day was interesting and he realized that life is always changing, that is how they know they are alive. She nods in agreement as he reveals he called the bank and she is right, they have worked 20 years to make ends meet and this is their chance, but they have to call the cafe “Mari’s”. She jumps on his lap, kissing him because that was going to be her one condition too.

Daniel and Noa ride in awkward silence until they both admit they don’t want to fight. He knows her world is going to take a little getting used to. She was thrown at how he defended Vanessa and looked at her and Lewis as horrible people. He feels they both need to adjust. His family is always there together, talk it out when things go bad so nothing festers. This is something new to her. He takes her hand, saying they are a team and anything they face they will face together.

She asks if he has ever wanted to go to Morrocco. She tells him about her meeting with Melanie Caan, something he feels is amazing. She wants him to come with her, but he gets serious, saying he has a job and family. He can’t just leave, but she feels it is only 3 months and there is no reason they both can’t go. She is only asking him because she believes what they have is special. She asks him to think about it as she steps out of the car. Daniel stands out with her as paparazzi and fans take photos, they kiss as she thinks both their dreams can come true. He can shoot his food show while down there too.

Kurt finds Vanessa removing her sign from one of her properties, wanting her to really share her side of the story. He reveals that Noa met Daniel before her proposal; that she flirted with him, right before she proposed and she was the one who even told him to order the soup. Vanessa at first thought it was impossible until he mentioned the soup. She is furious!

THE END!
