The Young and the Restless (T&R) star Jess Walton deals with terrible grief right now as her husband John James passed away. Married for 40 years, everything they had until now becomes memories and no more opportunities come to make more. It’s a sad situation as she cared for him at home until the end. Of course, Y&R fans know that John was no stranger to grief.

Jess played the role of Jill Abbott in the CBS show for nearly as long a she was married to her husband John James. So, fans care about her deeply. In 2017, she told Entertainment Tonight, “I am so very, very, very fortunate to have been able to work…for over 30 years, and I look forward to many more years.” However, she sadly can’t look forward to 30 more years of loving her husband as he just passed away from terminal cancer.

The Young and the Restless star lost a friend about eight years ago when Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) passed away. Last year, on the seventh anniversary of her death, Jess wrote, “Sweet Jeanine, for 26 years you were my playmate, my partner in crime. I marveled at your life force time and time again. You are magnificent my friend, and I love you. I can’t wait to play with you again.” Jess clearly takes relationships seriously and her love for her husband comes through as she mourns his passing now.

Y&R Spoilers  – Star Cared For John At Home

The news that the husband of Jess passed away came on her social media this week. Soaps In Depth reported that she shared photos on Instagram and Twitter. Plus, she shared the sad news on her Facebook. She told her many Y&R fans that he struggled with “terminal liver cancer” for the past “three months.” Not alone as she nursed her husband through his last days, she got some help from the Hospice.

The Young And The Restless star also said, “my daughter, Allison, her new husband, Wade, our son, Cole, and I have been caring for John at home.” She added, “This has been far and away the most painful period of my life, and our children’s.” Nevertheless,  she also felt that it was “richly rewarding.” After all, he cared for his family in his life and she felt grateful that in his last days they were all there for him.

The Young And The Restless News – John James Founded The Grief Recovery Institute

Jess Walton also mentioned that her husband left behind the comfort of the Grief Recovery Method. As they face a dark time and some pain-filled days ahead, they intend to rely on his legacy. On the website for the recovery method, a tribute read, “The staff of the Grief Recovery Institute is saddened to announce the death of our beloved founder, John James. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. We look forward to connecting with you soon.“
