The Young and the Restless (Y&R) star, Doug Davidson, who plays Paul Williams, took aim at social media hate on Twitter. In a series of hateful tweets, attacking Davidson’s friendship with Kristoff St. John, his return to Y&R, and supportive of Michelle Stafford’s return, a couple Twitter users took things a little too far with the Y&R actor. Young And The Restless – Doug’s Friendship With St. John Attacked
For whatever reason, one Twitter user attacked Davidson for mentioning Kristoff in an interview. They accused him of using his friendship with Kristoff to stay in the press. And, many people took issue with it.
They jumped to the conclusion that Doug used it to his benefit. However, Davidson denies that stating Kristoff’s support of Paul Williams is one of the reasons he is back on the canvas right now.
Y&R fans Divided On His Return
This part of the social media war was complicated. There are many people who support Davidson. They are thrilled he’s back and they are campaigning for him to be put on a contract. These followers also expressed their opinion on Jordi Villasuso (Rey Rosales), stating that they don’t support him because he was basically Paul’s replacement.
Other Y&R fans voiced their opinion by saying that Paul didn’t need to return. He hasn’t done anything since he’s come back and accused his character of being a “terrible cop.”
Young and The Restless Fans Upset Over His Phyllis Position
Doug expressed his support of Michelle Stafford on Twitter. He said that he was thrilled she would be returning to the role she created. And, he said that he will miss Gina Tognoni, as she is a fabulous actor.

The Y&R fans went ballistic. They attacked his position. They went as far as to say they won’t watch the show as long as Stafford is on. It was crazy, to be honest.
Here’s the thing on this—Davidson is an actor. He isn’t making any casting decisions. And, of course, he’s happy Michelle’s returning –he’s worked with her for almost two decades.
The soap opera fanbase has gotten so toxic, attacking soap stars often. We need to remember; these actors are people with feelings and watch how we speak to and about them.

Doug Davidson is the finest man. I agree with him and have loved him since the show began. I am so glad he is back. I had tears when he appeared on the screen on March 25.
Yes, I’ve watched YnR since the beginning and Paul has always been a favorite of mine. I guess we’re about the same age and I remember having a crush on him for some time…LOL… and oh yeah, he’s a wonderful actor too……….
Haters beware. You are idiots. Doug Davidson has a right to his job. Just because some idiot wanted to change things that were working. He has and always will do a great job. If something needs changed it needs to be idiot Billy.
I like the character Paul and I always wished writers would give him more respect. Let’s face for years he was a joke as police chief, Kevin for one sits inches away from his office whilst every character in town walked in and got Kevin to give them police information. Is it any wonder a writer came along a thought what’s this garbage, unaware of how loved Paul’s character is because no writers had ever done him justice. Now these writers are not doing so either, we might have got him back but the writing for his character still sucks big time. Give the police chief some balls instead of being jerked around by Victor and the Newman’s. Doug Davison should stand up to the writers for the integrity of his character and not be so complacent about his character if he is that concerned about staying on the show.
It’s a soap. Don’t be so hateful. Paul is a good actor it’s not his fault he hasn’t had good parts… It’s the boring writers. As far as Rey his just unfortunate to be the one to be put in a favorites spot. I didn’t care for Rey but he needs a chance to grow y&r needs better writers as does B&B. The ones they have are lacking imagination . There is way too much hatred in this world now so please be nice.
