The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease there might be an Abbott family power struggle as Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) lords it over Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). Billy is coming on board at Jabot taking the position recently vacated by Adam Newman, (Mark Grossman) Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) co-CEO, and that could cause friction between uncle and nephew.

Both Jack and Kyle are stressed, since Jack just got engaged to Kyle’s mother, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and now she’s in jail accused of murder. And it’s not just anyone’s murder, it’s Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) Kyle’s mother in law.

According to Y&R spoilers, Kyle will stay working but he’s going to be a hot mess because Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) is a hot mess, Jack staying away trying to prove Diane’s innocence.

That means Jack won’t be in the office to mediate between Billy and Kyle, and they didn’t get along before. There’s liable to be an ongoing battle of wills and ideas, and Billy tends to get snarky and overbearing, lording it over Kyle.

Y & R Spoilers – Kyle Abbott Won’t React Much Better Than To Adam Newman

It’s likely that Kyle won’t react much better to Billy coming on as his boss than he did when Adam came on, and Kyle was glad when Adam left.

Billy will likely have a chip on his shoulder and feel like he has something to prove, which will make for a rather toxic work environment. But Billy is much older than Kyle, he may still treat him like somewhat of a kid and thinks he knows a lot more than Kyle does.

That’s about things in general as well as work, definitely rubbing his nephew the wrong way and possibly micromanaging; no one likes being hovered over when trying to do their job. He may demand to see Kyle’s business plans for Marchetti, since it’s under the Jabot umbrella, and Kyle won’t appreciate it.

Billy coming on board as Kyle’s boss with no one to intervene could start a real war of the Abbotts, which won’t do anyone any good. Kyle being testy and worried about his mother, accused of killing his wife’s mother, putting him in between is difficult enough.

The last thing he needs is Billy being bossy and acting like a know it all, which he’s prone to do, because Kyle will snap his head off in a heartbeat.

That could get his uncle Billy riled and discipline him for insubordination, not using the compassion Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) knows he has on his nephew. In fact, it may take Chelsea paying visits at Jabot to keep Billy sane and behaving himself!
