As viewers know, Adam admitted that he acted in self-defense when killing the man who Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) was investigated in the famous gambling destination. The odd couple pals had a surprising connection, as Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) learned last June. A more deeply hidden part of Adam’s past, which feels more dangerous, could be kept permanently buried.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) knows the truth about Kansas and what his then eleven-year-old son did to A.J. Montalvo (no actor name known for this role) in defense of Hope Wilson (Signy Coleman). But the Moustache has long felt terrible about what Adam endured as a child and blocked out ever since.

So, Victor has worked to keep that information buried and doesn’t want it to come out now, as it would damage Adam. That type of unwanted reveal could potentially implicate Victor too, as he’s admitted to paying off a county Coroner to adjust the death certificate.

Victor had Hope’s ranch hand move A.J.’s body to the barn, where it was said to have been found after Adam attacked Alyssa Montalvo’s (Maria DiDomenico) father.

The story Alyssa wrote was part of a ruse. Adam contacted his childhood friend when he, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) visited Hope’s farm in preparation for Chadam’s projected remarriage ceremony.

In contrast, Phyllis was upfront with Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) and Chance. She said their discarding of the memory stick, that was stolen from her safe deposit box, eliminated the last piece of physical evidence that tied Adam to the Vegas murder. Without it, he remains a threat to Newman’s.

Lacking his own stated admission, which was preserved on a memory stick, Phyllis can still tell Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) what she knows. Plus, fans recall that the deceased man’s wife has been asking questions about her husband. She doesn’t know that he’s dead and is sure to persist in trying to locate him.

Nick’s impulsive personality and a happenstance meeting with the deceased man’s spouse will be all that’s needed to cause Adam’s arrest.

The implication is that all of Victor’s dealings with Adam since this character was SORAS’d (soap opera rapid aging syndrome) in 2008, have actually been protective. Adam rejects that idea out of hand.

However, time and developing circumstances may change Adam’s mind. Victor’s power and fatherly advice will surely be needed when the well developed Vegas story resurges.
