King’s official departure from the cast is not a first-time thing. Fans recall she was off for an extended leave a handful of years ago, as she was part of the four-season run of the nighttime comedy Life in Pieces from 2015-2019.

Those who appreciate achievement value King’s time with Y&R. Her Daytime Emmy awards were well-earned. She defined the teenage and then young adult Summer from 2012 through this year.

Lanier is a newer actor, with her first credit earned in 2017 movie, It Happened In L.A. She also appeared in the streaming series Red Oaks that same year, and was in the 2018 film Fish Bones and the 2019 film Mia.

Jack did a strong job in raising Kyle as a single parent. Viewers know that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) also played a role in Kyle’s early years, which was an outgrowth of his rivalry with Jack.

But Kyle was close with his mother. While Diane can not explain her actions, she can tell Kyle that she was not in a good mental state when faking her death.

Time should allow Kyle to bond with Diane again. But Summer is sure to influence her husband’s decisions and his time frame of forgiveness.

If Diane plays her cards right, she should make Summer an ally and be as open to her grandson, Harrison Locke Abbott (Kellen Enriquez), as possible.
