Y&R spoilers reveal that the soap played out a storyline that affects so many people in real life. Dina was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and fans watched as the Abbott family tried to come to terms with it.
We also saw the devastating journey from different angles and how people can react to it in different ways. Dina’s health began declining rapidly and her loved ones worked hard to solve the mysteries of the matriarch’s past. It was a beautifully done story, as well as a heart-wrenching one.

Actress Marla Adams began playing Dina on the CBS soap opera in 1984. She left several times but always returned. In addition to being an icon on Y&R, Adams has also appeared in General Hospital, Adam-12, Starsky and Hutch, The Love Boat, Hart to Hart, Happy Days, and Who’s the Boss. Her acting credits also include The Bold and the Beautiful, Golden Girls, Baywatch, Days of Our Lives, as well as Walker, Texas Ranger.
