Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) knows she cares about his brother, but he does not trust her at work. His intuition is sharp, considering Diane is trying to convince Jack to fire him.

Diane’s motives are not fully duplicitous. She knows Billy’s history and believes he pushes Jack to dark places he would not normally go to.

Her maternal instinct also pushes her to defend Kyle. She believes a return to Jabot, as his father’s coequal Chief Executive Officer, would be good for business.

But Diane also holds out hope that Kyle can reconcile with his wife, Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier). They are separated and intend to get a divorce, but their situation feels fluid because Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) just gave Kyle the boot.

Billy is on a mission. He returned to Jabot to help save it from Diane and to defend his father’s legacy from Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John).

But Billy adjusted his focus after Ashley Abbott McCall (Eileen Davidson) had a falling out with her remarried husband. He, like Jack, believed that meant Tucker would be seeking vengeance against them.

Jack does not want Billy to operate on his own accord. Thompson’s character has trouble restraining himself and is vulnerable to being provoked.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Jack Abbott Sees Real Enemy

Jack believed his brother after Tucker made it look like Billy embezzled. Viewers know that Tucker’s scheme involves diversion.

The embezzlement scheme is a distraction, with Tucker orchestrating a different attack he believes the Abbotts will not see coming.

That chilling plan seems to be driven by his anger at Ashley, but viewers can realistically wonder if he still intends to turn Jabot over to her if he successfully seizes it.

If Jack and Billy remain allied against Tucker, they may be able to withstand whatever happens. But Diane appears inclined to freelance as well or at least to influence Jack’s decision-making in the heat of the moment on Y&R.
