Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Mariah already let something slip about the sex of the baby in a recent episode of The Young and The Restless! She profusely apologized, knowing that Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) had wanted to wait until she and Chance Chancellor (most recently Donny Boaz) could find out together – like, maybe when the baby is born, considering he is out on a long mission under deep cover.

But Abby didn’t mind at all and Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) was thrilled as well. But now there is someone else that deserves to know that secret that she was supposed to keep, now that it’s out in the open with Abby and Nina. That would be the baby’s donor father, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). Mariah feels it would only be fair that he should know it from the source and not hear it through the grapevine. Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Mariah had found out she was having a baby boy for Chance and Abby at the doctor’s visit she had just returned from, which also involved an ultrasound. She’ll leave it up to Abby to request a copy of the ultrasound photos. Mariah gives Devon a call to tell him she has some news about the baby and asks if he wants to meet up.

Mariah and Devon meet up at Crimson Lights, where Devon has a regular coffee and Mariah has some herbal tea. Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Devon had given Abby an “emergency package” from Chance, and Mariah is aware of it and thanks him. She tells him that was a great comfort to Abby and she was constantly cuddling Chance’s sweater.

She also tells Devon that she accidentally let a secret about the baby’s sex slip out and since Abby and Nina know and Abby was fine with it, she thought he would want to know too. Devon is happy to hear the news that Mariah is carrying a baby boy. They make some jokes about all the kicking the baby does and how he might grow up to be a famous football player!

He might even be a Heisman trophy winner! All in all they have a pleasant visit and catch up on some other things too, since they hadn’t talked in a while. Devon says now that he knows the baby is a boy, he’ll have some shopping to do. He won’t have to buy a bunch of unisex clothes and gifts for when he arrives. They both talk about how thrilled Chance will be when he finds out – whenever that might be. They both hope that he’ll be back soon, before Abby finishes losing the rest of her mind worrying about him!
