Ashland gave his word that he would sell Cyaxares (now Newman Media) to Victor for a certain price. Then, he tried to up that price by threatening to go with one of the other bidders. When Ashland suddenly had a heart attack, Victor forced him to sign the papers or he wouldn’t get help in time.

Ashland hasn’t forgotten about that. However, it’s difficult to get the upper hand on someone who’s just as ruthless as Ashland. The media mogul needed inside intel, to know the secrets of the Newman empire, and has to know what their next moves are before they make them.

Basically, Victoria is just being used so Ashland can know her better than she knows herself. Ashland is also getting educated on how Victor operates. In fact, Victoria explained her father’s thinking process to Ashland in Monday’s episode.

Ashland already knows that Victor doesn’t trust him, too. That is due to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) opening up his big mouth. Even though Victor is having Michael investigate Ashland, will they get the answers before it’s too late? Or has Victoria already handed Victor Newman’s empire to the enemy?
