The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) statement that he likes Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) appears to contradict what he also told Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Genoa City, Wisconsin’s renowned business tycoon said that he appreciated how Ashland built his business, with ruthless being the adjective chosen to describe Burgi’s approach.

Devoted Y&R fans know that ruthless was used in the title of the infamous book that Leanna Love (Barbara Crampton) wrote, under a pen name, about Victor once upon a soapy time. So, Victor’s use of that specific moniker through the years and again now reinforces his appreciation for tough business world tactics. That outlook can also be logically tied to why Victor is looking out for his firstborn, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).

Ashland‘s claim of a cancer diagnosis is being questioned based on how he’s handled various business dealing through the years, most recently including the Cyaxares deal. His acceptance of Victoria’s merger idea and his wedding proposal also spark suspicion.

Nick was initially put off by Billy’s interest in Victoria’s whirlwind romance. But, upon reflection, he thinks that Billy could play a useful role.

Nick wants cover. So, he’s green-lighted Billy to use ChanceCom to dig whatever dirt can be found about the tagged Lockeness Monster.

Billy had a heart-to-heart with Ashland in the recent past, as has Victor. It appeared as though the one-time half of Villy was on board with the Vashland pairing, but maybe not.

As Ashland told Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), he doesn’t like that the Newman men believe Victoria isn’t capable of handling her own life. Ashland shouldn’t discount the impact Billy’s overly protective nature either.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Victor Newman Performing Due Diligence

Victor sees his efforts to check into Ashland’s background as due diligence. The steps in what normally would be linked to a legal requirement are fully applicable because Victoria is his daughter and the chosen Chief Executive Officer of Newman Enterprises.

Ashland has shrugged off all comers to date. He understands the testosterone element. However, if no legitimate dirt is dug, Victoria isn’t likely to be as understanding, which is what Nikki pointed out to her longtime love.
