The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Billy in Charge – Jabot Moves Forward

The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Billy in Charge – Jabot Moves ForwardBilly (Jason Thompson) never wanted to be in charge of Jabot on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But Ashley (Eileen Davidson) pushed him into the Chief Executive Officer’s chair and then Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) offered a persuasive series of pitches. Both pushes enabled Billy to see this unexpected opportunity anew.

Jack (Peter Bergman) ran Jabot, erratically, for years. Apparently, the company has been making money as the Abbott family’s lavish lifestyle confirms. But new blood (wink) and fresh ideas are creating other paths to pursue.

Whether Billy will be successful can’t yet be known. Being under Phyllis’ direction, Billy has rejected Ashley’s seasoned advice. Throwing her executive recommendations in the trash wasn’t something an open-minded executive would do, as time will surely prove.

Devoted Y&R fans know that Billy (in his various actor editions) has always considered himself to be a screw-up. But Phyllis has worked hard to change that downward view. For that she deserves strong credit, as Billy is capable as long as he develops discipline.

The blood Abbott clause is something Jack invented when Phyllis (as then played by Michelle Stafford) was believed to be seeking power. Today’s Phyllis (meaning Tognoni’s version) isn’t the same person, but of course neither is Bergman’s Jack.

Who would have ever thought that the three syllables, Jack Abbott wouldn’t be accurately uttered? Yet, Dina’s (Marla Adams) apparent reveal threw decades of Y&R’s history out the daytime window, or so it appears. A swap, where Jack is actually the Abbott and Billy isn’t, can easily be imposed at any time. But that’s up to Y&R’s writing staff.

Until, or unless Jack’s paternity issue is resolved in his favor, he won’t be able to take over at Jabot. Even though he suggested changing the clause as a first official act, Billy is now against the idea of allowing non-Abbott’s, like Jack, to occupy the head office.

The windowed suite that Billy is having Arturo’s (Jason Canela) company create represents a new vision. Proposed with a current, subjective buzzword (inclusive), one must ask, for who? Surely not Jack. Right Billy-boy?

As always, more detailed spoilers and a full collection of pictures for the week in question will appear here on Celebrating The Soaps, when there will be more clues and hints over exactly what’s going on.

The Young & The Restless airs weekdays on the CBS network.
