The coverup crew fears the inevitable on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), Vickie (Amelia Heinle), and Sharon (Sharon Case) don’t know who is blackmailing them, but they need to either pay up, or face the consequences of their actions.
Would a Genoa City detective attempt to extort money from this quartet in order to deke them out? Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) hides in plain sight, head fakes left, the coverup then goes right and he catches them. Probably not.
Who would know about the Chancellor Park spot where J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) is buried? It doesn’t have to be someone who actually witnessed the unlawful and still-unreported burial. Instead, the photograph taken of the modern art statue could have been taken by Jill (Jess Walton), or Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) and then forwarded via group email.
Jill? Her style wouldn’t include sending anonymous notes and then attempting to ferret money. She’s far too bold to be so sneaky and doesn’t need the money.

Tessa, on the other hand, says that she owes twenty-thousand dollars to coyotes who helped her smuggle Crystal (Morgan Obenreder) across the northern border into Canada.
Did that owed amount enable a trip through Lake Superior, or was a pure land lurch taken? Why would people of that ilk then allow a payment plan? No one knows the answers to either question, as Tessa has remained mum on the matter.
If Miss Porter’s story is true, then that pressured reality also makes her the likely blackmailer, or at least that’s how Y&R has presented her. Although she could have supplied whatever she actually knows to the smugglers and they are the ones who are tormenting the coverup crew now.
Mackenzie (Kelly Kruger) is an option, as she might have felt enraged about what happened, assuming she knows about it. But Y&R opting to write her dark, after also devolving J.T., would be unbelievable.
Other possible on-screen characters could be behind the threats that have been received, or an as yet unseen persona could also easily be revealed as the gangster. Yes, this is a good whodunit, or who’s doing it, daytime mystery.
