The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Mariah Stays in Genoa City – Sharon Needs Her Surviving Daughter

Mariah (Camryn Grimes) impulsively agreed to leave Genoa City on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Then Hilary (Mishael Morgan) died and she just couldn’t go. In addition to Tessa (Cait Fairbanks), Sharon (Sharon Case) needs Mariah to stay.

Tessa understood why Mariah couldn’t leave her home and family. Fairbanks’ character actually changed her own one-way ticket to a round tripper. So, she’s likely to somehow resolve her sister Crystal’s (Morgan Obenreder) plight off-camera and then return in August.

Meanwhile, Mariah will solider on. She had to abide by Hilary’s request in taking over GC Buzz’ hosting duties. Whether Y&R keeps that show-within-a-show format intact remains to be seen.

As devoted viewers recall, Hilary’s final sign-off included an emotional ending, which was foreboding. The resultant car accident that eventually served to end the life of this vibrant Y&R character was known by readers of this savvy soap site. However, natural human emotion likely caused tears to be offered for the well-written situation that led to Hilary’s death.

Mariah and Hilary didn’t get along at first, or often thereafter. However, both ladies naturally educated themselves about the other, as can prove true for people who initially marry themselves to surface opinions. Mariah and Hilary admitted to mutual fondness by the time it was time to say goodbye.

While the Mariah-Tessa storyline is likely to resume in the near future, Sharon needs her surviving daughter now. Mariah has served as a consistent sounding board and full defender.

Sharon needs to lean on her daughter as Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) erratic behavior continues. He seems himself as avenging Victor’s (Eric Braeden) decade’s-long misdeeds. That stance puts Sharon rightfully on edge, which is why Mariah’s choice to remain in GC will prove helpful.

Loyal viewers know that Sharon and Mariah are actually a reboot of Sharon and Cassie (Grimes initial character). With on-screen chemistry dating back more than two decades, Case and Grimes rank with the great mother-daughter pairings in Y&R’s history and also within this genre’s lore.
