Yes, that was Victor’s (Eric Braeden) shadow that appeared in Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) hospital room on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He’s returned from Dubai and wherever else he was during Christmas week.
A magnificently written, produced, and acted coma scene showed Nikki feeling pulled to an intense white light, intended to represent a gateway to the afterlife. She felt compelled to go, spurning calls from various loved ones to fight and return to the living.
Y&R telegraphed the return of Victor through ‘Niktor’s’ children and also Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) speaking to her at Genoa City Memorial Hospital. She could hear their pleas and confession, as a stream of sequences confirmed. This is also how viewers knew Victor was back in GC.
The warm image of Nikki adorned in white, while Victor strolled into her dream-like state in a black tuxedo was very old-school Y&R. This forever couple has and will always represent the greatest ever pairing in show history. So it made sense that a well-constructed event would be provided to the audience, who could then help to welcome Victor back.
The ‘Moustache’s’ arrival, via his shadow, provided hope that all will soon be well on this soap. Many legacy character’s fictional realities have been suspended during the entire J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) storyline. The trajectory of this arc is certain to be radically adjusted now that Victor has returned.

Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) will not be able to put Victor behind bars for any length of time because the audience knows he didn’t kill J.T. As daytime devotees know, Nikki did, accidentally. This is why Victor’s revival at this particular time matters greatly.
Considering recent behind-the-scenes moves, Y&R appears ready to wrap an arc that first began in mid-April. But various outstanding issues must be addressed prior to, or during the climax.
Who has been tormenting Nikki and the coverup crew this month, if it wasn’t Tessa (Cait Fairbanks). Was this seeming secondary villain also the person who set fire to the stables at the Ranch? How was J.T.’s body moved from Chancellor Park and where is it now? Plus, of course, who did it, if Mr. Hellstrom is actually dead?
