Phyllis’ move looks odd from an outsider’s perspective. She’s been encouraging past guests who were present at the Phoenix, during Simon Black’s (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) orchestrated hostage crisis, to sue the hotel for pain and suffering. Abby is just beginning to learn about the plaintiffs, who are conveniently tapping the same doctor to support their claims.

But Phyllis became a fifty-percent stakeholder in the hotel when she forced Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), who will soon be Mrs. Chelsea Newman again, to relinquish her twenty-five percent position at above market price. So, the plaintiffs are suing Abby and Phyllis.

Y&R Spoilers – Abby Newman Must Consider All Options

Responding to a ploy of this type will take cunning. Abby is the only Newman sibling who’s on good terms with Adam, which could create an unexpected alliance.

It could prove fruitful to pick her brother’s brain regarding this developing situation since Abby knows that Chelsea was targeted because of intel Phyllis gained about Adam. But even if she does ask Adam’s advice, Abby could be forced to sell her stake in the Phoenix before its value is diminished via lawsuit settlements or court cases.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Phyllis Summers’ Motives Are Hidden

This scenario seems like more than Phyllis simply wanting to rule her own roost. There are hidden motives in play that Abby, the other characters, and the audience isn’t aware of.

Phyllis may be aiming to use full control of the Phoenix as a means to create an empire. This may play into her personal re-connection to Nick as well, though that would likely be a non-starter, as he won’t go against his own family.

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) remains Phyllis’ main target. She’s never forgiven him for the Marco Annicelli (Peter Bergman) arc. So hardcore fans won’t be surprised if the Phoenix actually represents the start of a long-range revenge plan aimed at the ‘Moustache’.
