The Young and the Restless spoilers have dropped hints that some Rosales family members may be gone but they’re certainly not forgotten. Does this mean we’re about to see a return of la Familia to Genoa City?
It’s not a farfetched, nor a bad idea to bring back the missing Rosales’. While many fans thought they were foisted upon the viewership, myself included, things have changed both on and off-screen that merit a second look at bringing back the contentious clan.
The Young and the Restless spoilers – Mal Young is no longer in charge
First off, there have been changes at the helm that point to a more balanced and nuanced presentation of the family. Controversial Mal Young is no longer in charge as Y&R executive producer and head writer, saying he left the number one rated American daytime drama to seek greener pastures.
Many fans felt Young foisted the Rosales family upon the canvas in a hasty and clumsy manner that ignored the show’s history and worse yet, denigrated one of its core characters. Debuting in such circumstances would make it hard for any character(s) to gain fans’ trust and affection.
Overnight newbie Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) replaced veteran Paul (Doug Davidson) at the GCPD and it set the stage for fan enmity toward the rest of the family.

Y&R Restless – Does Rey Rosales need the rest of the family?
At this time Rey is one of two Rosales family members in town. Significantly, his brother Arturo (Jason Canela) and mother Celeste (Eva LaRue) have been referenced this week. Is this a coincidence or a foreshadowing of their return?
Sharon (Sharon Case) brought up Arturo when she said she got in touch with him for advice. She’s renovating the coffee house and chose to get his advice since he’s in construction.
Viewers also learned that Celeste broke her ankle in a car accident. Does it seem like neither needed to be referenced, and the writers went out of their way to do so?
The Young and the Restless Spoilers – The Rosales family deserves a second chance
Perhaps they are testing the waters, trying to gauge fan response to a comeback. I think having the family back for an encore is worth a second try. The first time around they were written and presented in a way that simply rubbed viewers the wrong way.
Surely, lessons have been learned.
At this time there is reason to bring back Rey’s family—he needs support while supporting Sharon in her cancer battle. Additionally, who wouldn’t like to see where the sidetracked romance between Celeste and Jack (Peter Bergman) can go? These two soap legends deserve a story worthy of their talents.
And, diversifying a situation in a thoughtful and entertaining manner is never a bad idea.
