‘Young and the Restless’ (YR) Poll: Will Victoria Choose Cane, or Billy – Vane or Villy in 2019?

This couple was teased a few weeks ago on ‘The Young and the Restless’. With ‘Lane’ in exile and a ‘Villy’ seemingly reforming, another romantic option has entered Vickie’s (Amelia Heinle) life as her New Year’s week kiss with Cane (Daniel Goddard) proves.

‘Vane’ could be interpreted as a cheeky playoff being vain. But neither character is overly self-absorbed. Instead, this nickname is better matched to the word vane, meaning a movable device attached to an elevated object that allows the direction of the wind or other forces to be determined. Yes, Vickie and Cane’s lives have been strongly swirling this year.

Vickie has been embroiled in an incredible (and very long) personal crisis. In brief, her former husband returned to town, went ballistic because he didn’t like his job (hmm, really?), tried to kill Victor (Eric Braeden), twice, and then was knocked off by Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), who’s killed twice before in her life. Whew, now that was a packed recap!

As the J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) arc approaches its end, Miss Newman is facing family drama from all ends, including Reed’s (Tristan Lake Leabu) admission that he accidentally hit Nikki with Charlie’s (Noah Alexander Gerry) car. The Reed-Charlie link is part of a plot device that positions Vickie and Cane together, thereby furthering the ‘Vane’ option.

Part of the intrigue with this potential power couple, a term that hasn’t fallen out of fashion within this column, involves the existing rivalry between Cane and Billy (Jason Thompson). Executive producer and head writer Mal Young was wise to approve of this battle of hearts before he departed. It will be intriguing to see how new decision-makers follow through on this conflict.
