‘Kola’ is the cutest couple on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But Lola’s (Sasha Calle) apparent decision to move on from Kyle (Michael Mealor) appears to allow Summer’s (Hunter King) plan to shift into high gear.
King’s recently returned character didn’t want Kyle the last time she was in town. Billy (Jason Thompson) became her odd obsession. ‘Silly’ happened, then ended as quick as it began. But Y&R fans were teased, or tormented based upon perception, with the telegraph of Summer and Kyle getting back together just before Miss Newman left for Dubai.
Summer’s apology to Kyle and her plays ever since returning to Genoa City have been savvy. After learning about Lola’s honorable principles, the wisdom of which Summer doesn’t grasp, King’s character felt it best to not interfere in ‘Kola’s’ relationship.
Using her Phyllis-like (Gina Tognoni) guile, Summer calculated that Kyle would tire of Lola and become vulnerable for an emotional take-over. Then, as St. Valentine’s Day week arrived, Jack’s (Peter Bergman) passed-plan to his son failed.
Lola’s reject of the Abbott cabin limited-time excursion idea was played out in front of Summer. Kyle, carelessly made his woodsy pitch in front of his ex-girlfriend and then left the invitation to the cabin on a table at Crimson Lights. Summer was an eye and ear witness to what happened. Her take of the invite set the stage for what comes next.
Kyle’s likely better future would be with Lola, who is earning her way in the world. She’s also fully upfront with Kyle, which isn’t something this early-20’s guy is used to. Meanwhile, there’s Summer ready to pounce. Her resurgence of interest in Kyle appears to be of an impulse nature, rather than heartfelt.

The likelihood of a reformed ‘Syle’ lasting forever, as an enduring couple, seems slim. But what if, like Phyllis with Nick (Joshua Morrow) in the mid-2000’s, Summer allows herself to become genetically tied, meaning a child, to Kyle forever? Yes, what option will he have then?

Will Lola wreck her unshaven brother’s truck as she careens down the mountain after seeing Kyle and Summer kissing?
I think so.
Do I care? No. This will lead to unending bedside scenes at Genoa City Memorial, as Nate the wonder-physician saves Lola’s life.
Yawn.
Summer will be up to her old tricks to make Lola jealous and play her games!
Boring !!!!!!
