A TV Legend Joins Blue Bloods!

Want a clue to which beloved legendary TV star will take a guest role when Blue Bloods returns from its hiatus? Think about the throw-back shows “Taxi” and “Who’s The Boss” for a hint! We’re referring, of course, to Tony Danza. The actor will portray a cop who pushes New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) into an ethical problem, per TV Line.

During the February 25 episode, Danza will play Lt. Moretti, who has dedicated his life to serving as a cop. But when a drive-by shooting hits the lieutenant, Frank decides to visit him. And trouble follows when Frank finds out that Moretti hid his son’s gang activity from the New York Police Department. A dedicated family man himself, Frank will empathize with the desire to protect a son. But he must choose between that love for family and his own dedication to law and order.

As always, Blue Bloods won’t just focus on one story line. The upcoming episode, titled “Allegiance,” also will feature Joe Hill (Will Hochman) discovering that his date could be guilty of tampering with a witness. As a result, Joe teams up with Erin (Bridget Moynahan) and Anthony (Steve Schirripa). Can they unravel what turns out to be a complex case? 

And don’t worry, fans of Baez and Danny! That dynamic duo also appears in the February 25 episode. Watch for Baez’s (Marisa Ramirez) beloved TV star to abruptly collapse during a taping! Joined by Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), Baez focuses on hunting down the mystery death. The episode also features Eddie (Vanessa Ray) taking on an offer to get involved with SVU.

Blue Bloods Loves Legendary Stars!

Tony Danza joins a flock of other legendary stars who showed up on Blue Bloods throughout season 12, pointed out Pop Culture. For instance, music fans felt thrilled to see Jimmy Buffett take on not just one but two roles! First, Jimmy portrayed a con man trying to fake the “Margaritaville” singer’s persona. And second, Buffett portrayed himself in a January episode.

And in December, Broadway fans felt just as delighted to see the legendary Kelli O’Hara appear. During her guest star role, the actress portrayed Erin’s friend Lisa Farragaut. Looking back on the experience, Kelli emphasized that she would love to return. “Great, I’m already established, I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel on that one,” she joked.
