Chicago P.D. Star Marina Squerciati Says Burgess And Ruzek Are “Endgame”

“Chicago P.D.’s” star Marina Squerciati, who plays Kim Burgess on the tv series, said that her character and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) are “endgame.”

The actress explained that Ruzek is pushing Burgess off because he’s mad. There’s a barrier between them right now. However, Squerciati is still hopeful that they share a special bond that’s tough to crack.

“But I like to think that no matter who’s mad at who in our relationship, there’s this epic foundation that you can’t crack. We’re endgame.” (They really need to get it together, though!)” Squerciati said.

Burgess Decides on Makayla’s Custodial Guardian

In the upcoming episode on May 5, Burgess needs to decide on who will be Makayla’s (Ramona Edith Williams) custodial guardian. Given that she has a high-risk job, she needs to make sure that someone will take care of Makayla in case something happens to her. Spoilers reveal that she’ll choose her ex-fiance, Ruzek, even though there’s some tension between them.

Burgess admitted that she was baffled by her character’s choice and even asked the show writers if they’re sure. They explained that even if Burgess has family members, they’re not really that close. Also, Adam is her “ride or die” friend. They may hate each other but they will always have each other’s back.

Aside from making such a heavy choice, viewers will also see her try to improve her work-life balance. Although she’s struggling to manage her work and personal life, Kim is lucky to have a great support system. She has Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) and Ruzek to help her out.

Marina Squerciati Dishes – Is There Bad Blood Between Burgess and Halstead?

For those who are wondering if Burgess and Halstead will share some screen time, the answer is no. The two characters have not interacted with each other that much. It seems like they don’t know one another even if they’re part of one team. There are no ill feelings between them. They’re just busy living their own lives.

Squerciati believes that Halstead and Burgess “have a good working relationship.”

“But I also think that at least right now, Jay and Kim are just not a compatible duo… When you split the line of who’s Team [Police] Reform, it’s more Jay, Kevin, and Kim, and then Upton and Ruzek and Voight are able to go rogue. So I do think [Halstead and Burgess] have that in common,” she explained.
