Early Nominations For Daytime Emmys Outstanding Leads Released

The 2023 Daytime Emmy Award nominations are set to be released Wednesday at 12ET/9PT. However, early nominations were released in a major category Tuesday evening.

According to the official Daytime Emmy Award account announced, “The full list of #DaytimeEmmys nominations won’t be out until 12p ET / 9a PT tomorrow, but you can get a sneak peek at FIVE special categories by tuning in TONIGHT to @etnow @accesshollywood @extratv and @enews!” However, it seems that the nominees for Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Lead Actor have been released early.

The Outstanding Lead Actress Nominees are:
Sharon Case for the role of Sharon Rosales on The Young and the Restless
Melissa Claire Egan for the role of Chelsea Lawson on The Young and the Restless
Finola Hughes for the role of Anna Devane on General Hospital
Michelle Stafford for the role of Phyllis Summers on The Young and the Restless
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood for the role of Steffy Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful

The Outstanding Lead Actor Nominees Are:

Maurice Benard for the role of Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital
Peter Bergman for the role of Jack Abbott on The Young and the Restless
Billy Flynn for the role of Chad Dimera on Days of Our Lives
Thorsten Kaye for the role of Ridge Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful
Jason Thompson for the role of Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless

One More Category Was Released Early As Well. The Nominees For Outstanding Daytime Drama Are:

Days of Our Lives
General Hospital
The Bold and the Beautiful
The Young and the Restless
The Bay

Of course, these are just three categories that will be included in the 2023 Daytime Emmys which happens to be celebrating 50 years of Daytime Emmy awards. Last year’s 2022 Daytime Emmy awards included Culinary Series, Culinary Host, Lifestyle Program, Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series, Short Form Daytime Program, Daytime Special, Entertainment News Series, Multiple Camera Editing, Hairstyling, Makeup, Casting and Original Song. Wednesday’s announcement will include a list of similar categories and their nominees.

The History Of The Daytime Emmy Awards

The first Daytime Emmy Award show was held in 1974. For years the awards were held in New York at Radio City Music Hall and occasionally at Madison Square Garden. In 2006, the Daytime Emmys were moved to the Kodiak Theater in Los Angeles.

In 2012, the awards started to be moved to different sites in Los Angeles but have never returned to New York City. This lack of shows in New York City may be attributed to the fact that all of the New York-based soap operas have since been canceled.
