May fans may not be aware but the title, Grey’s Anatomy is an allusion to a timeless human anatomy book called Gray’s Anatomy, originally published in 1858.

The pilot for the show was created by Shonda Rhymes and she stayed on for 13 seasons, leaving at the conclusion of Season 13 of the show in 2017. There have been many seasons.

Grey’s Anatomy – Looking Into The Lives Of Budding Doctors

As fans know, the series follows the life of Meredith Grey, portrayed by Ellen Pompeo, who, in the show, is the daughter of a famous surgeon general, Ellis Grey, played by Kate Burton.

The series starts as Meredith Grey begins her surgical residency at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital, which was later renamed Seattle Grace Mercy West, finally settling on Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in 2009.

Grey’s Anatomy follows the lives and work of surgical interns, residents, and attending physicians at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. Interns eventually mature into seasoned doctors and surgeons as they are mentored by their residents.

Grey’s Anatomy – Who’s Returning And Who’s Departing?

Grey’s Anatomy has now been hitting the small screen for 17 seasons with the 18th season premiering on September 30, 2021. Series regulars in seasons 7, 12, and 16, Jesse Williams, Giacomo Giannotti, and Greg Germann will not be appearing this season. However, this season we’ll see the return of Addison Walsh as Kate Montgomery who’s been missing from the lineup since season 8.

In episode 5, Bottle Up and Explode, the Grey Sloan Memorial doctors jump in to action as an explosion rocks the city of Seattle and the drama come close to home for the doctors. Episode 5 of the season is set to air on November 11 at 8 PM Central time on ABC. If you prefer to stream your TV, you can find Grey’s Anatomy on Hulu Live at the same time.
