House Of The Dragon: Production House Of The Dragon Season 2 Has Begun

HBO’s “House of The Dragon” has come bearing good news. It was announced on Tuesday that the show’s season 2 is now underway as it has begun production at Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom.

The announcement came from Ryan Condal, with a first-look picture at the Iron Throne made of swords, sitting in the Great Hall of the Red Keep.

“House of The Dragon” which is a prequel to “Game of Thrones,” tells the story of the House Targaryen, set to be 200 years before HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 novel “Fire & Blood.”

Due to the success of “Game of Thrones,” when the first episode of “House of The Dragon” season 1 aired, it amassed about 10 million views on its first day.

House Of The Dragon — Production, Casts, And Returning Casts For Season Two

The first season of “House of the Dragon” began its production two years ago, in April 2021. By February 2022, its production came to an end, and by August 2022, “House of the Dragon” season 1 premiered. Its season finale came out in October of the same year.

On Tuesday, Ryan Condal who is the Co-Creator, Showrunner, and Executive Producer, of the series announced that production for season 2 has commenced.

Ryan shared: “House of the Dragon has returned. We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera.”

He also added, “All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can’t wait to share what we have in store.”

Last year, a cast member Ewan Mitchell shared in an interview with “The Face” that said the filming of Season 2 would last for “eight months” in 2023. If his calculation is correct, that means from Ryan’s announcement that it has begun, production will last till December, and season 2 will premiere in 2024.

Last year, “Deadline” shared that season 2 will be two episodes shorter than season 1.

As for the casts for season 2, they are: Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans.

And returning cast for season two are: Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.
