NCIS spoilers tease that actor Gary Cole will be coming onboard NCIS in the upcoming 19th season as the new team leader of Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) NCIS team in his absence – but is Special Agent Alden Park really who he says he is?
NCIS Spoilers – Leroy Jethro Gibbs Appears To Possibly Have Faked His Death
NCIS viewers will recall that in Season 18’s cliffhanger episode, Jethro took his newly finished boat out for a spin on the lake – only to have it explode with him at the helm! However, he surfaced from underneath the water a safe distance away alive.
It is possible that Jethro has faked his death – and done so in order to smoke out the elusive serial killer that Gibbs and investigative reporter Marcie Warren (Pam Dawber) had been trying to hunt down. Gibbs was also still on suspension following his nearly beating an abusive dog handler to death who had been running a dog fighting ring.
NCIS Spoilers – Leroy Jethro Gibbs Gave Phineas A Dog He Rescued
NCIS recaps reveal that Gibbs adopted one of the dogs he rescued and later gave it to his young friend Phineas (Jack Fisher) who had run away and landed at Gibbs’ home. NCIS’s investigation into the murder of a captain in the National Military Command Center lead them to Hassan Sayegh (Pehz Maan), Phineas’ biological uncle.
Hassan was after the captain’s laptop to hack into NCIS case history so he could get to Phineas after causing his foster parents’ car to crash. Phineas runs to Gibbs’ house and bonds with Lucy, the dog Gibbs had rescued. The team arrests Hassan, but not before he revealed his own son needed a bone marrow transplant, which Phineas agreed to donate, and Gibbs allowed Phineas to take Lucy home.
Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ Replacement May Be The Serial Killer
NCIS viewers know that someone will have to take Gibbs’ place during his forced retirement and possibly faked death. Special Agent Alden Park will be taking his place, but recent rumors suggest he may actually be the serial killer that Gibbs and Marcie were trying to flush out. This will certainly draw Gibbs out of his forced retirement and it could be why he appears to be faking his death.
A faked death, as NCIS viewers can imagine, is the ultimate cover – it certainly worked for Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) all those years! Gibbs will be seen in the new season, just not as much, with reports having recently been released that portrayer Mark Harmon will be recurring instead of starring. Obviously, if Park is the serial killer, that revelation will take most of the new season to play out. However, Park’s being the serial killer is not a given – at this point, it is mostly fan speculation at the best although it would make for a good storyline!
