NCIS: New Orleans spoilers and updates tease that Lucas Black opened up about the reason why he left the show. Fans may recall that he left his role as Agent Christopher LaSalle back in season 6.
Fans are still coping with the news that NCIS: New Orleans has been canceled. But they’re also wondering why Black left the show that helped him rise to stardom. The actor finally opened up about his decision to leave.
NCIS: New Orleans Spoilers – Why Did Lucas Black Leave NCIS: New Orleans
Agent LaSalle instantly became a fan favorite because of his commitment to his work and his sense of humor. He wasn’t the first character to leave the show since Agent Sonja Percy (Shalita Grant) and Agent Meredith Brody (Zoe McLellan) left first before him.
However, their departure was different since their circumstances allowed them to reprise their role for a reunion. Unfortunately, for him, his character was written out and there’s no possibility for his alter ego to return.
Black revealed that he left the show because his work’s demanding schedule has started to cause problems with his family life.
He said that he’s always been concerned about his work and family life because he knows the entertainment industry could destroy families. The actor admitted that he started to feel the negative effects of the television industry during the later seasons of NCIS: New Orleans.
“The way it’s run, you’re travelling, it’s a very fast pace, lots of long hours, especially in television,” he said.
Black shared that the series was much more demanding compared to the other projects that he’s been part of. During the first three seasons, he worked 70 hours a week. He also moved his family to the city so that they’ll be closer to his shooting locations. He eventually felt that he wasn’t spending as much time with his family as he should be.
At first, he thought that he’ll only be with the series for a short period. He didn’t expect it to be a major hit for CBS. Black has been a series regular since the series first aired in 2014. He appeared in 125 episodes out of 155.
