Yellowstone spoilers, news, and updates tease that Paramount Network boss Chris McCarthy confirmed that Matthew McConaughey would be part of the next spinoff. What part will he play?
Rumors have been circulating that McConaughey will join the Yellowstone universe. But hearing a top exec confirm it gives fans something more to look forward to. The Duttons are a powerful family, and with the actor expected to join the show, many are wondering which part of the family tree will he take part in.
Matthew McConaughey – will join the Yellowstone universe.
Award-winning screenwriter Taylor Sheridan is keeping everyone in suspense with ten projects currently in the works with Paramount. Fans are itching to find out when his latest series will debut and who the cast members will be. While there’s no timeline yet, fans’ imaginations are running wild with possible scenarios.
Viewers are eagerly anticipating Matthew McConaughey’s upcoming project with the Dutton family. Many are hoping for a glimpse of McConaughey interacting with Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). Maybe he’ll be part of the upcoming 6666 Ranch spinoff.
If he does join the cast of the latter, it would be nice to see him interact more frequently with Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White). McConaughey knows Texas very well, making him a perfect fit for the role.
McCarthy didn’t share that many details aside from the fact that McConaughey will join a spin off regardless of the future of its other cast members.
Will Matthew McConaughey Take Over As John Dutton?
Costner’s amazing performance as John Dutton remains unmatched. The idea of someone else taking over the character is unlikely. Costner has made a huge impact on the show, and the powers that be know that very well. “[Yellowstone] wouldn’t be what it is today without Kevin, and we hope that that stays for a long time to come,” McCarthy said.
There have been rumors that Costner only wanted to shoot for a week for the last six episodes of season 5. If that happens, fans will surely be surprised by the actor’s lack of screen time. However, Costner’s lawyer said that the reports were an “absolute lie.”
“The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of Season 5 of Yellowstone is an absolute lie,” the lawyer said.
“It’s ridiculous—and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second,” she added. “As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success,” he continued.
