During an interview at ICCCon, the actor was asked if Goren would return to the franchise. The actor said that it was a question for Dick Wolf. “But c’mon, what am I, an idiot? It’s a great part. He’s a great–look, Dick, seven, eight, nine episodes would be great,” he said.

“Absolutely. I’ve made it clear to Dick Wolf that I would come back if he wanted to do a streaming six to ten or 13 episodes, I would be totally into it,” the actor said.
“To play a more mature Robert Goren would be really fun, and Warren Leight, who writes Special Victims Unit, was one of my favorite writers on Criminal Intent,” he continued.
A day after his appearance at ICCCon, D’Onofrio took to Twitter to say that it’s “up to you fans and Mr. Wolf. I’d love for Kate and I to return.” His next tweet, which seemed to be for Criminal Intent-turned-SVU showrunner Warren Leight, called on for some serious thought about bringing the show back. Of course, @WolfEnt needs to be into it.
Goren could make a guest appearance in one of the franchise’s other shows. For those who didn’t know, Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) was featured in the 2022 Law & Order reboot. Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson) also returned but only for a season.
As for Law & Order: SVU, Kelli Giddish reprised her role as Amanda Rollins for the season 24 finale. While the fan favorite, Elliot Stabler is not the main character of a different Law & Order franchise, Organized Crime.
