Yellowstone Spoilers – When Will Season 5, Part 2 Debut?

TV viewers have fallen in love with Yellowstone’s focus on the Dutton family. And from iffy family members to conflicts with neighbors, the show has scored exceptionally high ratings, pointed out Men’s Health. But viewers will need to prepare to bid farewell with the second part of season 5.

Yellowstone concluded the first part of the final season in January 2023. But then came the controversy affecting the second part of season 5. And drama involving Yellowstone star Kevin Costner coupled with Hollywood strikes have caused delays.

However, 2024 has now become the anticipated premiere date for Yellowstone season 5, part 2. And insiders link that delay to differences involving Costner and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. Kevin had wanted to limit his time working on Yellowstone so that he could star in and direct his movie Horizon: An American Saga.

Kevin Costner – Controversy Heats Up

Rumors included Costner allegedly wanting to film Yellowstone for just a week. However, as the lead actor, that proved an impossible desire for producers to fulfill. But Paramount Network tried to halt rumors about Kevin quitting. 

And then came the bombshell that Yellowstone would wrap up after season 5. But Costner finally spoke out about the controversy. “I couldn’t help them anymore. We tried to negotiate, they offered me less money than previous seasons, there were issues with the creative,” he stated.

And the Yellowstone actor revealed, “We came up with a number, and they walked away. I’ve been told it’s a little disappointing that [it’s] the #1 show on TV [and] I’m not participating.”

Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 – Cast Revealed

However, despite his remarks, discussions reportedly have begun to persuade Costner to film scenes that would tie up loose ends for his character. And Sheridan stated, “My opinion of Kevin as an actor hasn’t altered. His creation of John Dutton is symbolic and powerful. And I’ve never had an issue with Kevin that he and I couldn’t work out on the phone. I’m disappointed. It truncates the closure of his character. It doesn’t alter it, but it truncates it.”

Costner could therefore star in the final episodes of Yellowstone. And other Yellowstone cast members returning include Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, and Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Denim Richards, and Wendy Moniz. The last season also will focus on the conflict involving John Dutton and Jamie. And it also could offer an entry point for the upcoming new series starring Matthew McConaughey.
