Well, glad to know that the fans aren’t the only ones looking forward to the end with some reserve. “Yellowstone’s” Luke Grimes isn’t sure moving on will be as easy as all that.

Luke Grimes Calls “Yellowstone” Finale “Crazy,” Saying Show “Changed My Life”

Across all five seasons, Luke Grimes played Kayce Dutton, son to Kevin Costner’s John Dutton. And while there’s already a planned spinoff that will take place directly after the events of “Yellowstone,” it’s not yet confirmed how many original characters will be returning. That Kevin Costner is not coming back is for sure.

“For seven years, we’ve been doing this, and we started in 2017,” Grimes told People magazine.

“That’s crazy. This cast and crew, they’re like a second family, we spend a lot of time together. It’s been one of the most intense experiences of my life. Also, one of the most rewarding. It’s changed my life in every way possible.”

“Nothing will ever be the same because of this show in all sorts of ways, good and bad. I will miss it terribly. I know that. I mean, I think I’m ready to know how it ends. I’m ready to tell the end of the story.”

The show would have likely continued if scheduling conflicts hadn’t prompted Costner to drop out. Costner revealed that he’d been offered $24 million to shoot seasons 5 through 7 before he decided he’d rather work on his personal project “Horizon,” which is out this summer.

While Grimes said he didn’t know how to deal with the news once “it’s said and done,” he was still grateful for having been a part of the incredible show.

Luke Grimes On How He Plans To Move On By Exploring His Love of Country Music

Even though preparing to say goodbye to “Yellowstone” was hard, Grimes’ time on the show opened his creativity in many ways. One of those ways inspired his country EP: “Pain Pills or Pews.”

“Through these characters, I get to explore parts of life that I wouldn’t before. Clearly in ‘Yellowstone,’ exploring this Western lifestyle that I had never lived before. I was never a cowboy. I’d never ridden horses. I’d never lived in the West. Now I live in Montana,” he told the outlet. “I mean, it really does inform a lot of things about who I am, which then informs the music. So I think they’re related in a pretty strong way.”
