Yellowstone: Taylor Sheridan To Keep Ryan Bingham On Show, With A Caveat

YellowstoneYellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has agreed to keep Ryan Bingham’s character on the show, under one condition.

Yellowstone fans know Ryan Bingham as the serenading troublemaker and disinclined ranch hand in the Dutton bunkhouse, but long before he filled that role so well, he had already made a name for himself as a country singer. He’s been on the show for 23 episodes so far and Sheridan will surely keep him, but he has a condition. Conti8nue reading and we’ll fill you in on the details.

Yellowstone – Ryan Bingham Has A History With Country Music

According to Looper, in 2009-11 Bingham won Academy, Critics’ Choice Movie, Golden Globe, Grammy, and Satellite awards, alongside producer T Bone Burnett, for his song The Weary Kind that featured in Scott Coopers Crazy Heart which starred Jeff Bridges and Colin Ferell. He was honored by The Americana Music Association for Artist of the Year in 2010 for the same role.

But few fans will recall that his star began rising even earlier, in 2007 with the album Mescalito. All told, before featuring on the Yellowstone series, the singer had already produced five studio albums and one live album. All that aside, this multi-talented artist is perhaps best known for his recurring role as the Dutton-Yellowstone ranch hand.

Yellowstone – Fans Love Bingham’s Character But Taylor Sheridan Needs More

Yellowstone fans either love or hate Bingham’s character in the contemporary western drama for his oppugnant relationship with Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser. However they feel about him, he has become an integral part of the popular western’s storyline.

However, for the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, the actor is going to have to impress more than fans. He’s going to have to “not suck.” Bingham sat down with Wide Open Country in 2019, for an interview in which he described his path to the cast of Yellowstone. That journey began with Sheridan calling him up for some musical contributions and ended with him being written into the show.

Yellowstone – How Bingham Came To The Cast

Bingham said that the two hung out for a bit and, once Sheridan discovered that he had grown up riding horses, he decided to write him into the storyline. Originally intended to be “something small” the role ended up growing into one that has endured 23 episodes. However, Bingham recalled to the publication that Sheridan had once told him, “If you suck, we’ll just kill you off.”

On the popular Yellowstone subreddit, fans make it pretty clear, they don’t think he sucks, so we can expect to see him on the Yellowstone ranch for some time to come. Be sure and stay caught up with the cast and return here often for more spoilers, news, and updates.
