The Equalizer Season 5 Will Return To CBS

Queen Latifah fans can rejoice!  The Equalizer will be returning to CBS with all new episodes, the network confirmed that the primetime drama has been renewed for a fifth season. Here’s what Robyn McCall fans need to know about The Equalizer’s future.

Primetime powerhouse CBS released an official statement on April 25 confirming that they opted to renew The Equalizer for another season.

CBS Renews Queen Latifah As The Equalizer

“The Equalizer, led by the incomparable Queen Latifah, has all the best elements of a powerful drama. The series is stacked with suspense, heroism, high stakes and formidable characters our audience roots for. We look forward to another dynamic season,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment.

Despite Queen Latifah’s killer performance in Season 4, there were a lot of rumors about a potential Equalizer cancellation.  This past season the ratings were solid, but definitely nothing to write home about.

It’s no secret The Equalizer has been falling short in key demos for a while now.  In fact, CBS’ other dramas Tracker, NCIS, FBI, and Blue Bloods all bring in more total viewers than The Equalizer, according to TV Line’s ratings reports.  But, Robyn McCall clearly has staying power and enough loyal fans to keep the series afloat.

Will NCIS Hawaii Get Cancelled?

TV viewers were shocked last week when the network cancelled CSI Vegas and So Help Me Todd.  Now that The Equalizer has been renewed for Season 5, there’s only one show left up in the air, and it’s not looking for NCIS Hawaii.

Queen Latifah has not made an official announcement about the Equalizer’s renewal, but we’re sure the former rapper is thrilled to get to keep playing the part of badass vigilante Robyn McCall for another season.  Plus, if the network does eventually pull the plug on the drama, there’s always the chance it could get picked up by a streaming giant and continue cranking out new episodes.
