A statement by the producers of the still unnamed show points out that the series “will span the life of one of the most legendary boxing figures of all time.” The idea to play out the biopic of the youngest person to ever win the heavyweight title had been in the works for as far back as 2014, and according to reports by Deadline, it was supposed to be a feature film.
But I guess that in 2021, it’s quite clear that a feature film will be highly inadequate to represent the life of one of the greatest boxers of all time, whose personal life is not that great.
Jamie Foxx News – Jamie Foxx And Mike Tyson
The Oscar winner, who has worked on movies ranging from musicals to action, has signed on to portray the life of Mike Tyson in a limited series that will see Martin Scorsese as one of its executive producers. Antoine Fuqua, whose works include the commercially successful series Training Day, is set to direct the film as well as executive produce it. Tyson is also serving as an executive producer, with Colin Preston as the writer.
“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” Tyson commented, “With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”
The news of the series comes just a month after Hulu announced that it was working on its own, though unauthorized, Tyson-centric limited series from I, Tonya screenwriter Steven Rogers.
Tyson retired from boxing in 2006, but made a come-back to the ring in November last year for a bout with Roy Jones Jr. which ended in a draw. Tyson is also one of five boxers to reclaim their heavyweight championship title after losing it.
Foxx proved last year that he is ready to step into the ring and be Tyson when he showed off his transformation and his amazing Tyson voice impression.
Other executive producers on the project also include Ian Montone, Rick Yorn, Chuck Pacheco, James Barnett, Sophie Watts, John Ryan Jr. and Kiki Tyson.

Jamie Foxx – Skepticism Surrounding The Movie
When Hulu announced that it was working on a Tyson-centric limited series, Tyson was quick to lash out at them claiming that they didn’t care to respect a black man’s feelings, even after the events of 2020.
This Tyson-approved limited series written by Colin Presto has not been attached to a network or streaming service, but it is expected that it would be soon due to the big names associated with the production.
There’s a doubt on how personal and truthful the series will be due to the controversies and the claims surrounding Tyson’s life.
