Jennifer Garner Friends Slam ‘Disgusting’ Ben Affleck For Trashing Their Marriage!

When Ben Affleck struggled with his infamous addiction problems, his ex-wife Jennifer Garner did all she could to help him. For instance, Garner reportedly drove her estranged husband to rehab after allegedly setting up an intervention. As a result, Jennifer’s friends feel outraged that Ben trashed his marriage during a Howard Stern interview this week, insiders told Page Six.

“It’s disgusting,” summed up one source. That insider, who reportedly is acquainted with both Garner and Affleck, feels that the actor’s remarks were not true. “Jen has been the only one picking him up time and time again when he’s done horrible things — fallen off the wagon or worse,” asserted the source.

And the insider also shared that Garner supported her ex husband out of love, pointing out that she serves as the co-parent of their kids. “Jen stood by him because she loves him. This is the mother of his children,” noted the source.

Another insider feels that Ben has gone against Alcoholics Anonymous guidelines. “Anyone who knows addict behavior knows how untrue those comments could be for any addict, but particularly Ben. It’s one of the first tenets of AA not to place blame for your disease,” noted the source.

Jennifer Garner’s friends also compared Ben Affleck’s comments to his acceptance speech for the Best Picture Oscar for “Argo” in 2013. At the time, the 49-year-old actor revealed that he felt the marriage was like work. “I want to thank you for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases,” Ben informed his wife in public at the Oscars. “It is work, but it’s the best kind of work. And there’s no one I’d rather work with!” Not exactly romantic.

But Affleck’s remarks in his recent interview with Howard Stern took his marriage shading to a whole new level. Claiming that he “probably still would’ve been drinking” if he had not divorced Garner, Ben claimed that he began abusing alcohol because he felt “trapped” in his marriage. 

“I was like, ‘I can’t leave because of my kids, but I’m not happy, what do I do?’ And what I did was [I] drank a bottle of scotch and fell asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution,” shared Affleck on “The Howard Stern Show.” Ben and Jennifer’s marriage survived for 10 years before their divorce announcement.
