British royal family news shows that Queen Elizabeth is now at Sandringham, the place of many happy memories from the past, particularly of holidays spent there with her family.
Now a treasure trove of past photos reveals just how dear those times were for Her Majesty. The pictures were taken by amateur photographer Edward Jackson in the late 1980s.

The pictures, taken decades ago, show the Queen and her late husband Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, making their way to church. The entire clan is with the queen and she looks to be in her element. In years past, before COVID, the family tradition was to gather at Sandringham for the holidays. There are many delightful stories of Christmas’ past and yet two years in a row the pandemic made the gathering impossible.
One photo was taken at St. Mary Magdalene Church, on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk and shows the queen and Philip, their four children and their partners, plus a handful of grandchildren.

Another photo shows the late Princess Diana on Christmas Day in 1988. She is walking out of the church with her SIL Sarah Ferguson.
Yet another memorable pic reveals the queen talking to her now grown grandchildren Zara Phillips and Prince William. At the time they were aged seven and six, and Diana and Fergie are also in the cozy scene.
The clutch of photos was discovered at Jackson’s home after his death in November.

Royal Family News – Several Touching Photos At Sandringham Have Surfaced
Jackson’s family are said to be submitting the photographs to the palace to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year. The late photo bug’s nephew Stephen Jackson, “My uncle always had two cameras hanging around his neck just in case one went wrong. He was always on the lookout for a good shot. If Edward was still here he definitely would have sent some in. We’ve picked half a dozen to send through.”
This week the queen left Windsor Castle for her Sandringham estate. She plans to spend two weeks there, and it was that residence that she and Philip often escaped to for a respite. In fact the late Duke of Edinburgh, “spent much of his post-retirement life at the bolthole, until Covid-19 forced him back to Windsor.”
