Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) rumors recently have teased that host Tyra Banks would get booted. And the gossip results from how many fans have complained about the change from now-ex host Tom Bergeron to Banks. However, now DWTS figured out a solution. And the producers brought in a new co-host for Tyra, Alfonso Ribeiro.
Find out what the new DWTS co-host shared about his future. And discover what changes Ribeiro plans to make. Get the latest Dancing With The Stars news and views below!
Alfonso Ribeiro Arrives On DWTS At Challenging Time
Becoming the new DWTS co-host to Tyra Banks doesn’t exactly seem easy. Because viewers slam Banks for her extravagant attire and cool delivery, Alfonso faces the challenge of getting disgruntled DWTS fans to appreciate what he can offer. And Ribeiro tried to do so by describing his plans to change the show, reported Screen Rant.
However, Alfonso arrives at a particularly tricky time for DWTS. For instance, when Ribeiro starts his new co-host gig in season 31, he will join the show in switching from ABC to Disney+. But producers hope that the actor’s popularity as Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and host of America’s Funniest Home Videos will cause his fans to make the move with him.
As a result, some fans will face a decision. Can they let go of their anger over Tyra replacing beloved former host Tom Bergeron and welcome Ribeiro? Tom famously hosted Dancing With The Stars. And Bergeron’s magical mixture of compassion and warm wit kept viewers applauding. But then came Tyra, who did not possess the same magic. However, because of Alfonso’s strong history in entertainment, some fans feel hopeful for the upcoming season.
Alfonso Ribeiro Talks Changes For ‘Dancing With The Stars’
Tyra Banks’ new DWTS co-host actually won Dancing With The Stars season 19. As a result of that experience, Alfonso knows what to expect both behind the scenes and on the stage. And he feels “super excited” to stand on the DWTS stage once more. But Ribeiro hopes to regain the “special” feeling that the cast and crew represent a family.

“My goal is to bring back a sense of the happy and the fun, and the family atmosphere, that this show has always felt like for me,” shared Alfonso. And looking ahead, Ribeiro hinted he will take his hosting cues from Tom Bergeron. For instance, the new co-host plans to befriend the contestants. As a result, Alfonso will sit with each contestant after their dance.
“I want to get honest and true feelings from them and make people laugh and make people smile again,” added Ribeiro. And though he didn’t directly critique Tyra, the new co-host did drop a clue. “Sometimes it gets a little serious. And while it needs to be that also, it also needs to be light and fun and cheery.” Because the two new DWTS co-hosts first became pals in junior high school, he believes they can succeed as a team. “And to bring the fun out and have some fun on that stage,” said Alfonso of his goals. “Smile and laughter, and enjoyment for everyone.”
