Brady Bunch Might Be Coming Back – Changes We Want to See, Plus What Should Stay the Same

Tis the season for TV reboots, which reportedly could include a classic from our youth (or our parents’ youth depending on your age!) Those that grew up watching The Brady Bunch might be interested to find out that it is possible it could come back. However, it won’t include the surviving original cast members. Here is what we know so far.

TV Reboot News: Brady Bunch Creator’s Son Speaks Out

The original creator of the Brady Bunch was Sherwood Schwartz. His son, Lloyd J. Schwarts spoke to Closer about the possibility of a reboot. Now, this would not be the first time the original series was adapted. There have been holiday specials, movies, reunions and even a reality series. Here is what Lloyd had to say.

“The Brady Bunch has been in the distinct position of being everything. There’s no other series you can point to that has been everything from one-camera comedy to a cartoon series, feature films, movies of the week, three-camera comedy, a variety show (which we had nothing to do with), and a reality show. And now we’re talking to CBS about a reboot kind of thing … which I can’t tell you what it’s about.”

TV Reboot News: What Should Change in The Brady Bunch Reboot

We would also like to eliminate a maid, but not necessarily Alice. Could she be a nanny instead? It seems a lot of families these days employ nannies rather than maids.

Also, the family should have some sort of struggle. In the original show, the dad was an architect. It’s a high-paying position. However, real viewers have real problems, including paying the rent, affording groceries and wondering how on Earth they will come up with tuition for college. I personally would like to see people on TV that struggle the way our families, friends and communities struggle each day. It makes it more real and more relatable. But at the same time, it needs to retain the comedy that the series was known for. We can have the best of both worlds, right?!

TV Reboot News: What Needs to Stay the Same

First of all, there should still be a large blended family. The various personalities really made the show stand out. If a lot of children are not in the plans, then perhaps add other family members to the show. Such as grandparents coming to live with the family or a troublemaking aunt. The more personalities and the more differences, the easier it is to create comedic scenes.
