Royal Family News: Duchess Sophie Is King Charles’ “Secret Weapon”

British royal family news shows that Duchess Sophie and Prince Edward celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary last month.

Edward is the late Queen Elizabeth’s youngest child and Sophie was rumored to have been the regent’s favorite daughter-in-law.

Sophie was not a royal when she met Edward, she worked in marketing. And aside from one misstep the couple made when Prince William was enrolled at St. Andrew’s University, the pair have been praised for their modest and hard-working ways.

Sophie has been seen as Edward’s biggest cheerleader throughout their marriage which is situated behind the backdrop of one of the world’s most famous families.

The couple will need to continue being each other’s rock as the past few years have seen them thrust into the spotlight owing to the removal of Prince Andrew from the ranks of senior working royals and the defection of Harry and Meghan Markle.

Owing to the wishes of his late parents, the couple are now titled the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. The titles confer greater responsibility and they have been quite visible as they, along with the Prince and Princess of Wales, support King Charles.

Royal Family News: King Charles Relies on Sophie and Edward

After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex abandoned the royal family, several royals saw their workloads increase, with Sophie in particular taking on added duties.

According to New Idea, in 2022 Duchess Sophie held 138 royal engagements, placing her second only to Anne, Princess Royal as the hardest-working family member.

Sophie has excelled so nicely that royal family friend Penny Mountbatten said of the low-key duchess: “She fell into her role so brilliantly and has been dedicated to doing everything right.”

Royal Family News: Sophie Earns Praise

The Times labeled Sophie as an “unappreciated trooper” and the family’s “safest pair of hands.” But it wasn’t always wine and roses for Sophie.

Soon after joining the royal family she seemed torn between monetizing her work and royal duty. It’s not known if the late queen told Sophie she could keep on working, as she is said to have told Meghan Markle.

The royals have lost both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in recent years and Duchess Sophie is held in such high regard that she has been hailed as the King’s “secret weapon.” The future looks bright for the mother of two who has managed to stay scandal free in one of the world’s most scandal prone families!
