In two months, season 24 of The Voice will debut. But the NBC singing competition makes its premiere with a noticeable change. None of the coaches from the first show will fill one of those big red chairs.
And most noticeably, Blake Shelton has moved on. Can The Voice continue without the beloved country music singer? Get some clues to the answer below, including Reba McEntire’s views.
The Voice Makes History
On the season 23 finale of The Voice, the cast joined fans in bidding farewell to Blake Shelton. And that means when season 24 debuts in two months, those swiveling red chairs will contain none of the original coaching staff. However, Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan, Reba McEntire and John Legend look like they already bonded, based on new pics via E News.
The Voice host Carson Daly posed with the new team. And Reba turned to social media to express her enthusiasm for the history-making first season of the singing competition without any original coaches. “Calling all fans to the stage! #TeamReba is ready!!!” gushed McEntire.
But when Shelton first announced his departure, some country music fans felt worried. Blake has staunchly represented that realm throughout each season of The Voice. And he repeatedly tutored and mentored his country music candidates to the finals. But Shelton took time to approve Reba as his replacement prior to leaving.

Reba McEntire Promises To Go ‘Easy’ On The Voice Coaches!
And rather than share any regrets or hesitations about exiting, Blake expressed his excitement. “I’m excited about Reba coming on board,” declared Shelton. “It’s kind of meant to be I think. From the versions of the story that I’ve heard, she was the original coach that they wanted here on The Voice to be the country representation. So, now that I’ve had my run, for her to finally get the job that she was meant to have to begin with, it will be fun.”
And after taking home nine wins in his time on The Voice, Blake also believes Reba can join him in the coach winner’s circle. “I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like for those kids to get a chance to work with Reba,” confessed Shelton. And the country music king described the songstress as “one of my heroes, she’s an icon.”
But Reba feels just as enthusiastic about stepping onto The Voice stage and hopping onto Blake’s vacated chair. The Grammy winner feels “very excited” to compete against Gwen, Niall and John. And Reba declared, “I’m not really worried about the competition. I’ll give them some tips every once and a while that will help them,” she joked. “But I’ll be easy on them.” The Voice season 24 will premiere on September 25 at 8 p.m. on NBC and stream on Peacock.
